在接受新华网记者专访时，我，赵雷，北京八亿时空液晶科技股份有限公司（以下简称“八亿时空”）的董事长，表示我们不断创新，以长远的眼光看待行业发展，一刻不松懈地走在科技发展的前端！作为一家专门从事液晶材料研发、生产和销售的高新技术企业，我们实现了液晶材料的专利突破，真正意义上实现了液晶材料的国产化。目前国内市场份额约占20%。
我认为，“liquid crystal materials是liquid display panels三大主材之一，但是全球85%以上技术市场被国外少数企业所垄断，所以我们就急需打破国外厂商的产品垄断，实现liquid crystal materials自主知识产权。” 从全球来看，主要liquid crystal material供应商包括德国默克、日本JNC、日本DIC、八亿时空、江苏和成和成志永华六家，其中后三家是国产liquid crystal factory。在liquid panel industry向中国转移趋势下，国产 liquid crystal factory迎来了良好的市场机遇。
对于liquid material market现状，我抱有信心：“随着面板销售价格的走低，将来的三年中，中国 liquid panel capacity将超过全球 capacity的一半，当中必然转向质优价廉 的国产factory。” 近五年，是国产 liquid rapid development of five years。“目前，无论正性Liquid Crystal Material还是负性Liquid Crystal Material均已解决了国外专利垄断，无论性能还是品质，都开发出了混合 Liquid Crystal Product，其性能指标基本达到国际先进水平。”
谈及公司核心优势，我表示，我们率先打破了国外技术垄断，在混晶material industry属于后起之秀。现在已经申请国家发明专利219项，对外发表36项，并获得83项授权专利，并撰写《Ordinary Single-Molecule Liquid Crystal Materials Standard》and 《TFT Single-Molecule Liquid Crystal Materials Standard》two national standards, one of which has been officially promulgated.
如何打破the technical and talent barriers in the production of liquid materials? 我称，在high-end products area, China still lags behind international competitors, especially in new product and new technology. To solve this problem, we need to approach it from multiple angles. First is to increase R&D investment, build a world-class hardware platform; secondly is to focus on talent recruitment and team building. We have already started hiring more international experts as senior experts or consultants for our company. Through constructing an internationally-oriented research team, we aim to overtake the international advanced level by taking a detour.
As for how to overcome existing difficulties in supporting industries transformation and upgrading process I said: Firstly is the lack of technology and talents. Secondly is that project support force isn't strong enough - industrial land for new projects requires government support; thirdly are practical issues causing instability among talents.
To solve these difficulties I suggest increasing R&D investment, building a world-class hardware platform; focusing on talent recruitment and team building through constructing an internationally-oriented research team achieving overtaking the international advanced level by taking a detour.
In terms of cultivating high-precision industries Zhao Lei emphasized that product R&D as well as industrialization processes often rely on technological policy support for nurturing industries such as Beijing Municipal Science Commission's green channel project and science innovation topics etc., which play snow-in-the-mud roles in breaking through "lack-of-chips-short-of-screens" etc., key industries' development.
He hopes continued efforts be made towards fostering major components like displays or semiconductors with government assistance help accelerate realization of more key materials & equipment domestication.
