Wu Qing's Yellow Plum Blossom Opera is so popular and enduring, is it not because of her voice and artistic charm? In this cultural soil, every time she performs, it's like a refreshing breeze that makes people feel carefree and at ease. In 1953, Wu Qing graduated from the Special Class of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, which marked the beginning of her artistic career and also turned her onto the path of Yellow Plum Blossom Opera.
In the years that followed, she held various positions such as deputy director of Anhui Provincial Yellow Plum Blossom Drama Troupe, director of Audio Dance Room at Anhui Provincial Institute for Arts Researches, president of Chinese Society for Dramatic Music Studies and vice-chairman for Chinese Musicians Association. Her works include film scores for "Heavenly Matchmaker" and "Cowherd Weaving Maiden" (cooperative), TV drama scores for "Cleaving Coffin in Nightmare" and "Orphan Girl Ningning" (cooperative), radio plays such as "Han Palace Autumn" and "Greatest Love Story", stage plays like "Legend Of Chunghua", “Jiangge”, “Liangshan Hero And Zhuyingtai” etc., as well as vocal pieces including “Falling Flowers”, “Oh Little Stone Bridge” ,“Voice Slowly Going Away”. She published papers like “From Development Of An Hui Spring And Song Dynasty To Decline Of Theaters' Musical Arts”,"Severe Fengying And The Yellow Plum Blossoms". She co-authored books such as “Yellow Plum Blossom Opera Overview”,”Introduction to Shizhou Plays’ Music”. She was also main editor to volume on Anhui Province in series called China’s Musical Works Collection. Her albums were released over ten times with cassettes numbering over forty boxes or sets (including cooperative ones). Moreover there are numerous VCDs small image discs available too(including cooperative ones). Some awards won by these works were national level or provincial level prizes. As a first-grade composer by Anhui Province Art Institute.
